Be Aware
I can not keep tabs on every resource in MRC and while I do try to monitor the community as a whole, if you have updated your resource, please let me know so I can get the information into MRC ASAP.
Adding your resources
I am constantly on the hunt for new resources so I may contact you but if I haven’t, please contact me so we can discuss getting your resource(s) listed as soon as possible.
At a bare minimum, every resource requires:
- Owner name, an alias of some kind is fine
- Owner Image, a discord avatar for example
- Title
- Description
- Image - while not a hard requirement, the resource looks much better with an image
Please note that for images I do need to host them on the MRC server and therefore I will ask for explicit permission.
Managing existing resources
At this time you will need to go through me to request changes to or removal of a resource from MRC. I will do my best to respond ASAP.
In an attempt to make things a little easier, I have created a template google doc (read-only example) that can be used to update resource information. If you contact me, I will provide you with your own copy with full editing rights to use and update at your convenience.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Google Structured Data (GSD)
On 2023.06.25 I added two development tools to MRC that I hope will improve both SEO and the format of Google Search Results.
SEO Tool
This tool is focused on sitemaps which are useful for Google and Bing crawlers but useless for DuckDuckGo, nothing I can do about that.
I should add that after some research, it seems many web developers feel it is a waste of time bothering with SEO stuff unless you have tons of money to invest in it, which I do not of course. I will do what I can but I wouldn’t expect 1st page results if there is competition out there.
Google Structured Data Tool
This tool adds structured data to the web pages, your resources, to enhance how they look and provide Rich Search Results. To be honest, as of this writing I haven’t seen the results as it takes a while to process, but I have seen examples and it is worth it. I will be monitoring them as time goes on.
This tool has two options
Create a template to automatically extract the structured data from the existing content. This is the option I chose as I do not have the time to manage each individual resource and create the required structured data content on a resource.
The other option is to create structured data for the individual resource, which I will do if the owner supplies the required information. In future, I will have an online form to fill out, but for now you will need to contact me.
